Two Sydney commercial projects have been shortlisted for the 2014 World Architecture News (WAN) Completed Commercial Award, joining four other projects from North America and Vietnam.

The TransGrid Headquarters by Bates Smart and 8 Chifley by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and Lippmann Partnership were both commended by the judges for their “high level of execution” and “presentation”.

The six-strong shortlist were selected by a judging panel hosted by the American Institute of Architects in Los Angeles which included Mehrdad Yazdani, Director of the Yazdani Studio at Cannon Design, Ross Wimer, Head of AECOM’s national architecture and interiors practice and Jose Esteves De Matos, Director of De Matos Ryan who was judging remotely.

Commercial projects from Ankrom Moisan Architects, Paul Murdoch Architects, Arch11 Inc and H&P Architects stand in the way of both the Australian buildings when the winners of the awards are announced March 28.
