Our carpet products are available with a range of different backing types. Read on to find out more about our carpet backings and how they are designed to enhance the performance of your carpet, increase comfort and improve indoor environment quality.

Our backings have been engineered to reduce the risk of complications of high relative humidity and PH in concrete subfloors. Also, our unique backing has been designed to reduce the risk of off-gassing and other potentially dangerous chemicals associated with some plastic compounds. All carpet tile and plank backings are fully recyclable and qualify for takeback at the end of their life under our GH Commercial ReCover Program.

Enviro Bac® carpet tile backing

Enviro Bac® is a dimensionally stable, breathable carpet tile and plank backing system offering exceptional performance features and allows for installation on slabs with high RH%. Made locally in Australia, Enviro Bac® is a Declare® LBC Red List Free certified carpet backing solution that has been trusted in commercial buildings around the country for over 20 years.

Enviro Bac Lite® carpet tile backing

With increased recycled content over standard backing, handling high RH% subfloor installation and providing similar performance to thicker cushion backing such as Enviro Bac Plus®, Enviro Bac Lite® also allows for approximately 35% less transport emissions compared to thicker and heavier cushion back solutions*. Enviro Bac Lite® is also designed to reduce the thickness variation when adjoining lower profile finishes in order to utilise standard trim solutions or no trim at all when installing adjacent to our 4.5mm LVT offering. Enviro Bac Lite® contains approximately 85% recycled content (recycled material is a mixture of pre- and post- consumer material).

*Enviro Bac Lite® has significantly lower transport associated greenhouse gas emissions per m² of tiles when compared to our Enviro Bac Plus® carpet tile backing because more tiles can be transported per truck load and because the tiles themselves are lighter. The emissions reduction percentage has been calculated on the basis that a full standard B Double trailer set can accommodate 4,896m² of Enviro Bac Lite® carpet tiles weighing a total of 17.23 tonnes, whereas the same trailer set carrying Enviro Bac Plus® can accommodate 3,672m² of carpet tiles weighing 20.16 tonnes. Using standard LCA methodology for calculating transport emissions (i.e., assuming a straight-line relationship between weight and transport emissions when all other factors such as vehicle size are constant), the increased m² and reduced volume result in a 35.9% reduction in the nominal greenhouse gas emissions associated with transport.

Enviro Bac Plus® carpet tile backing

Acoustics play a significant role in an interior environment. Background noise, particularly in open plan spaces, can affect concentration, stress levels and ultimately productivity. Carpet tiles and planks with Enviro Bac Plus® cushion backing have a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) 66% greater on average when compared to standard Enviro Bac® carpet tiles. This cushion backing is made using recycled materials and is the thickest cushion backing offered for GH Commercial carpet tiles. Enviro Bac Plus® contains approximately 75% recycled content (recycled material is a mixture of pre- and post- consumer material).

Quick Comfort® broadloom carpet backing

Offering a comfortable surface to stand, walk, work and live on, Quick Comfort® is a built-in cushion back system made for our 1.96m wide Designer Jet® carpets and commercial broadloom products. An integrated backing system, Quick Comfort® is a single process flooring installation with no additional underlay required, offering a convenient, cost-effective and quicker installation process. Made from 99% recycled content, Quick Comfort® requires no perimeter smooth edge and uses 50% less adhesive during installation.

Health Bac® impervious broadloom backing

Health Bac® impervious broadloom backing

A low VOC and PVC-free backing system, Health Bac® provides an impervious moisture barrier, essential for some hospital, healthcare and aged care applications and is also made from a minimum of 60% recycled content. Health Bac® prevents liquid spills from penetrating the carpet and pooling on the subfloor, preventing the growth of bacteria and mould. Offering easier maintenance, Health Bac® reduces maintenance time and cost.
