Rheem Australia has introduced a new 50-litre electric water heater to its Stellar stainless steel range. Featuring a compact and lightweight design, the new Rheem Stellar 50L electric water heaters combine high thermal efficiency with the performance and durability of a stainless steel cylinder.

Weighing only 17kg, the 50L Rheem Stellar water heater is 42 per cent (12kg) lighter than the 50L vitreous enamel model, which has a packaged weight of 29kg.

Ben Murphy, Rheem’s Group Manager – Electric & Heat Pump explains that the lightweight design of the new Rheem Stellar 50L hot water system will particularly benefit installations in old unit blocks without lifts, where installers can easily carry the system up multiple flights of stairs. The compact design allows easier installation in tight cupboard spaces and under benches.

Key features of Rheem Stellar 50L electric stainless steel water heaters include high-temp 80°C thermostat delivering water at a constant showering temperature of 42ºC up to an additional 2½ minutes more than a 50L vitreous enamel model; 4.8 per cent better performance than MEPS; better insulation in the tank retaining water heat for longer and reducing energy use; and robust stainless steel cylinder and water fittings resisting corrosion for longer and extending product life.

Rheem Stellar 50L electric hot water systems are backed by a 10-year cylinder warranty, at least three years longer than every 50L vitreous enamel model on the market.

Ben Murphy explains that stainless steel cylinders can withstand higher temperature settings than conventional vitreous enamel lined cylinders, without impacting the life of the product. Unlike enamel that deteriorates over time due to the constant heat up cycles of the appliance, stainless steel models do not rely on an enamel lining for cylinder protection, and are inherently protected due to the properties of the material.

Additionally, the absence of an anode in the design reduces servicing and maintenance costs. All models feature an Incoloy element, which lasts longer than copper elements. Dual handed fittings are located on the front of the water heater, which has mains pressure at multiple taps.

The addition of the 50L model to the Rheem Stellar electric stainless steel line completes the range, which includes 80L, 125L, 160L, 250L and 315L units.
