Case study: One Sydney Harbour Project
The One Sydney Harbour project in Barangaroo, Sydney, showcases innovative architecture and sustainable living. Horiso delivered over 7,500 bespoke tensioned shading systems, integrating cutting-edge design and performance fabrics to meet stringent functional, aesthetic, and environmental standards across three luxury towers.
The One Sydney Harbour project, designed by Renzo Piano, redefines luxury high-rise living with its architectural precision and sustainability focus. Horiso collaborated with Guthrie Douglas to deliver over 7,500 custom tensioned shading systems, seamlessly integrated into the building’s pioneering open cavity facade. Using CR88 performance fabric, the systems achieved optimal solar control and environmental performance, supporting the project’s vision of innovative, high-functioning, and visually cohesive design.
Rigorous prototyping and wind tunnel testing ensured the shading systems performed under extreme wind loads specific to the open cavity façade—an Australian first. The tight spatial constraints of the facade demanded precise engineering and bespoke solutions based on the TESS 600 system, allowing for clean integration without compromising the architectural intent. The result is a shading solution that complements the towers’ sleek forms while enhancing occupant comfort, energy efficiency, and facade performance, exemplifying the synergy between architecture and environmental engineering.
