L & G Meats Pty Ltd specialises in converting animal by-products into valuable commodities such as tallow, oils, and high-protein meal. Located in Parwan, VIC, the site houses several large tanks that required a durable and efficient access solution to facilitate routine inspections and maintenance by workers.

Challenge

The facility needed a robust access system to allow workers to move safely and easily across the large tanks, as well as view the tanks from above to conduct regular tasks. Given the scale of the equipment and the need for an efficient installation process, conventional access structures posed limitations in both time and cost. A quick turnaround was essential to minimise any disruption to day-to-day operations.

Solution

Recognising the specific demands of the site, particularly the size of the tanks and the support structures available, Kattsafe’s modular access system was identified as the optimal solution for the plant. Leveraging the Kattsafe Builda tool, initial concepts were developed quickly, saving the client both cost and time, as regular steel systems usually require a cost to quote, and our configurator is completely free to use.

Following discussions with the L & G Meats and Anchor Safe teams, the final design was then manufactured and delivered flat-packed for easy on-site assembly.

Multiple elevated walkway platforms were installed, each supported by heavy-duty support structures. These platforms included additional stairs and rung ladders to accommodate varying heights and access points across the tanks. Access solutions including steps and access platforms were also rolled out across other areas of the facility where safe movement was required.

Kattsafe’s modular access system was installed ahead of schedule, much to the satisfaction of the client. The efficiency and adaptability of the solution ensured minimal downtime and a smooth integration into the facility’s workflow, delivering a successful outcome for everyone involved.
