What if the most compelling design inspiration wasn’t visible to the naked eye?

That’s the thinking behind the new Biomorphic Collection, a carpet tile range that takes cues from the microscopic world, where intricate cellular structures, organic networks and natural formations create patterns far more complex than anything we typically see on the surface.

Australian made and designed, the collection reimagines flooring as something more than a functional element. Instead, it becomes a living, breathing layer within a space, one that subtly reflects the hidden systems that underpin life itself.

Three scales, one story

The collection is built around three distinct patterns, each representing a different level of magnification, almost like zooming in and out of a living system.

Slide 01 showcases an open, spacious interpretation of microscopic forms, evoking a sense of clarity and flow. Designed for both large and small spaces, it’s a versatile design that supports seamless continuity, and provides a grounding foundation with lasting visual appeal.

Slide 02 offers a balanced, mid-scale design that evokes the dynamic interaction of natural forms. With a harmonious blend of movement and structure, it is perfectly suited to collaborative and transitional spaces, adding energy while maintaining cohesion.

Slide 03 captures the most detailed perspective, reflecting the intricate complexity of cellular networks through a richly layered pattern. Ideal for feature areas, it delivers depth, texture, and a striking visual statement that anchors a space.

Designing from the invisible

At its core, the Biomorphic Collection draws inspiration from the patterns revealed under magnification, where cells, fibres and molecular structures form repeating geometries known as fractals. These patterns, found throughout nature, have long been associated with biophilic design, a philosophy that seeks to reconnect built environments with the natural world.

Rather than taking a literal approach, the collection interprets these microscopic references into contemporary, architectural forms. Organic pattern is paired with a deliberately bold and expressive colour palette, one that moves beyond traditional, muted “nature tones” to introduce vibrancy, contrast and a sense of play.

This balance allows the collection to feel both grounded and energised. Natural inspiration provides a sense of familiarity and connection, while colour brings personality and momentum, making the designs particularly well suited to collaborative workplaces, social settings and hospitality environments where atmosphere and engagement are key. The result is a series of designs that feel organic without being overtly “natural”, striking a dynamic balance between science, style and human experience.

Reframing biophilic design through microscopic inspiration

While traditional biophilic design often draws on familiar natural forms and earthy palettes, the Biomorphic Collection takes a different approach. Inspired by the fractal patterns found within cells and fibres, it explores how nature can influence design at a microscopic level, creating a subtle yet meaningful connection to the natural world. This contemporary interpretation transforms hidden organic structures into sophisticated, architectural patterns that support a sense of familiarity, wellbeing and connection within the built environment.

Designed for commercial durability

Beyond its design credentials, the Biomorphic Collection is engineered to meet the demands of high-performance commercial interiors. With an ACCS contract extra heavy duty rating, it delivers the durability, resilience and practicality required for busy workplace, hospitality and public spaces. By combining restorative design principles with robust commercial performance, the collection proves that nature-inspired flooring can be both visually engaging and exceptionally hardwearing.

Proudly ECS and Declare® Red List Free certified

The Biomorphic Collection of carpet tiles is proudly Declare® Red List Free certified, meaning it has been transparently assessed and contains no chemicals on Living Future Oceania's Red List of substances known to pose risks to human health and the environment. This certification supports the creation of healthier indoor spaces, improves material transparency, and can contribute towards projects pursuing the Living Building Challenge.

In addition, the collection is backed by ECS certification and a third-party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), providing independently verified information about its environmental impacts and sustainability credentials. Together, these certifications help support responsible material selection and can contribute towards a range of green building rating systems, including Green Star, Living Building Challenge, WELL and LEED.

Australian Made and designed

The Biomorphic Collection is proudly Australian Made, offering specifiers confidence in the quality, provenance and performance of a locally manufactured flooring solution. Through GH Commercial’s partnership with the official Australian Made Campaign, the collection provides assurance that it is genuinely made in Australia and backed by rigorous standards. Local manufacturing also fosters a closer connection between design, production and project delivery, ensuring consistent quality, fit-for-purpose performance and reliable availability for commercial projects.

Designer Jet® technology

The Biomorphic Collection of carpet tiles is created using Designer Jet®, a world-class custom carpet technology that enables an infinite array of colours and bespoke designs. Inspired by the patterns and forms found in nature, the collection harnesses precision engineering to inject dye directly into the carpet, bringing intricate organic visuals to life with exceptional clarity and depth. This flexible, creative and performance-driven technology allows Biomorphic to deliver unique, nature-inspired flooring designs that transform interior spaces and support biophilic design.
