The redevelopment of Melbourne’s historic Pentridge Prison blends heritage masonry with a new contemporary accommodation tower designed by Cox Architecture. Within this modern addition, Safetyline Jalousie’s SJ Proteger louvres were installed as Natural Smoke and Heat Ventilators (NSHV) to keep walkways clear of smoke during an emergency, supporting safe egress for guests and residents.

Beyond their essential life-safety role, the louvres integrate cleanly into the tower’s refined facade, contributing to the project’s balance of heritage character and modern architectural detailing.

Chadstone’s Social Quarter pairs sustainable design with a naturally ventilated common area, supporting its Green Star Buildings aspirations. Safetyline Jalousie motorised louvres were selected to provide controlled airflow and interface directly with the Building Management System (BMS).

The system allows ventilation to be adjusted throughout the day and automatically responds to fire alarm signals by closing when required. Their streamlined integration and durable performance enhance comfort, air quality and safety within one of Australia’s busiest retail environments.
