On Point Projects used their great ideas around building cost effectively but at the same time standing out from the crowd to win a multi-residential building contract to construct 14, 1 bedroom townhouses at Ocean Shores in northern NSW.

Known as Rajah Road multi-residential project, Stage 1 of the 2 stage project was completed in May 2017 consisting of the first 4 townhouses and all civil works for the site. Set high on the hill to take in views of the coastline just north of the Brunswick River between Byron Bay and Tweed Heads these townhouses sit just 200 metres as the crow flies from the sandy beaches of the Pacific Ocean.

A great seaside location that catches the wind, sunshine, salt and sand. Understanding the environment conditions that you are building in is critical when choosing your building materials and with such a harsh coastal environment the external cladding, decking, and screening needed to be carefully considered to ensure that they could stand the test of time and not only look good today but also weather well for years to come. Hardwood timber could have been considered but it would require a great deal of upkeep in this environment and with all that additional sub-tropical moisture timber would be highly susceptible to rotting if left untreated. A real add-on cost that the builder was not keen to leave as a legacy for the body corporate and so Futurewood low maintenance composite timber products were chosen.

Futurewood’s EnviroSlat 156mm wide concealed fix Weatherproof Wall Cladding was supplied in the colour Slate Grey and the 70mm x 15mm solid screening slats in Saltbush to match the CleverDeck 138mm x 23mm x 5400mm long solid composite timber decking boards.

The delivery and installation of the Futurewood composite products went according to plan and the On Point team were pleased with how easy to work with and time-saving the products proved to be. The look and finish of the completed townhouses has proven to be a real talking point around town and the builder is happy to report that several new leads have been forthcoming as a direct result of just how good the finished product looks.
