Various styles of doors and windows from Alspec and Carinya product ranges were selected and installed in a newly renovated home in Perth WA.

Originally built in the 1950s, the dated home in the Perth suburb of Floreat went through a complete transformation with the modern open plan living design presenting an opportunity to replace all the doors and windows with modern, more functional styles, selected from the Alspec and Carinya ranges.

Situated on a large corner block in Perth, the original home, though generously sized, was lacking in modern functionality and appeal. The renovation designed by Daniel Cassettai Design focussed primarily on reconfiguring and opening up the main indoor living spaces to more seamlessly integrate with the revitalised covered alfresco area adjacent to the pool.

The indoor outdoor connection is facilitated by a six-panel set of Alspec ProGlide UltraFlat accessible sliding doors, replacing the previous brick wall and hinged doors. Featuring a recessed, weather-resistant sill, the ProGlide UltraFlat doors create a continuous accessible path between the indoor and outdoor areas and are also wheelchair compliant with Australian Standards. A similar set of sliding doors was used to connect a guest bedroom to the same alfresco living area.

The remaining windows and doors across the home were replaced with styles chosen from the Carinya Classic and Select ranges, finished in a dark Monument powdercoat colour to contrast with the mostly pale wall and flooring colours. A mixture of sliding, awning and fixed window frames was installed, each fitted with appropriate chain winders and locks for security.

Excellent ventilation is facilitated in the home using Breezway glass louvre windows in the bathroom and bedroom areas, housed within Carinya and McArthur Evo aluminium window frames. Louvres are ideal for enhancing natural ventilation, with the afternoon breezes helping keep the house cool without impacting light or views.

The front of the home features a pivoting glass Swan Evo 45mm commercial door. Designed for the commercial environment, the door’s clean lines and secure centre pocket construction make this series popular within the modern residential build segment.

Alspec products used in the renovation included ProGlide UltraFlat sliding doors, Swan Evo 45mm commercial doors, Carinya Select hinged doors, Carinya Classic awning, fixed and sliding windows, and McArthur Evo centre pocket framing.
