Australian commercial flooring design house Signature Studio is releasing a capsule of exclusive floor collections designed by some of Australia’s most talented artists and designers.

Signature Studio is part of the commercial division of proudly Australian owned and operated, Signature Floors, renowned for creating beautiful flooring solutions for over 30 years, including large-scale projects such as Sydney’s illustrious Intercontinental Hotel, Novotel Sydney Airport, and numerous Travelodge and Rydges locales.

Signature Studio’s Designer Collaboration Series will see their team of textile designers work alongside creatives to translate designs into suitable textile form, bringing creations to life, and producing unique floor coverings for the architectural and interior design community.

The first instalment of the Designer Collaboration Series will see the innovative flooring specialists collaborating with Melbourne independent fashion designer, Megan Park.

Adored for her fashion designs, Megan Park brings her timeless, romantic aesthetic to create her very own Signature Series of floorcoverings. Renowned in the fashion world for fusing Parisian chic, a love for Victorian beadwork and a bohemian wanderlust to her designs, Megan began her fashion design journey in the foothills of the Himalayas. Her passion eventually saw her take on London Fashion Week in the late 90s and score placement in prestigious department stores such as Harvey Nichols, Liberty and Barney’s in New York.

Megan’s understanding of textiles, colour and design and her unrivalled fashion industry experience transpire into her Designer Collaboration Series collection. Beginning as hand illustrations and gouache paintings in the studio of MP, the artworks were inspired by nature and in particular the Briar design referencing Australian botanicals – the fantastical interpretations of protea floral blooms.

More muted than the original bespoke designs, the tonal colorations of the floor coverings are both bold and sympathetic to an interior space.

Speaking of the flooring creative process, Megan says, “It's wildly exciting to see our textile artworks transformed into dynamic rugs and floor coverings. I always want to 'go big’, but we are restricted to the size of a dress. There is certainly not that constraint when imagining the design filling the size of a room. A truly collaborative process it has been, forging our illustrative artworks and design sensibility with the technical know-how of the Signature Studio design team. What a pleasure it has been to create this capsule collection. As much as we love wearing our designs, I can't wait to walk into a space and see these come to life!"

Megan paints a picture of the ideal setting for her designs explaining, “I imagine a grand reception room, a cosy study, a boutique hotel room. There is warmth and elegance to the designs that I feel will never be tired of.”

As an Australian owned business, we wanted to provide a platform for creatives to work outside their own mediums and excite in new ways, teaming up with our highly experienced in-house textiles team.”

Over the next twelve months, Signature Studio will unveil collaborative designs with an array of Australian creatives, including multi-disciplinary artist Kate Banazi, design duo Maricor and Maricar Manalo, and costume designer Jennifer Irwin.
