ALSPEC’s sliding doors, hinged doors and framing solutions supplied for installation in the getaway home not only provide maximum durability and protection but also open up stunning ocean views for the residents.

Oceanside homes have the advantage of beautiful vistas but care should also be taken to ensure all components selected for the building can withstand the potential weather extremes as well as the marine environment.

The Emu Bay home features large sliding doors and expansive windows from ALSPEC, providing the perfect framing to the beautiful views outside. All four key living areas – kitchen, dining, and interior and exterior lounges – are positioned to emphasise the oceanic views.

ProGlide high performance sliding doors are ideal for installation in areas spanning large spaces, providing virtually uninterrupted views when closed. Smooth-operating recessed multi-tracks allow the sliding doors to effortlessly merge the indoor and outdoor areas into one larger space when required. The ‘post free’ corner option for the doors between the indoor and outdoor lounge areas enables seamless integration of the outdoor living spaces. Highlight windows above these doors accentuate the light and emphasise the spacious feel.

For the hinged door requirement, the Swan commercial double glazed door was the ideal choice. Initially developed for the commercial market, ALSPEC’s Swan hinged doors have become popular in residential builds seeking superior operation and performance. The McArthur 101.6mm centre pocket framing not only provides additional security while ensuring superior energy performance for the building but also creates a cleaner appearance and improves fabrication and installation time.

ecoFRAMEplus 101.6mm centre pocket framing was also selected for the home’s large fixed windows installed in the rear bedroom and bathroom. The versatile ecoFRAMEplus can be configured with a wide range of double glazing options and features sub sills to further enhance all-weather performance.

The Emu Bay home was designed by BGK Contech Architects with NRG General Building & Carpentry serving as the builder. All ALSPEC products were installed by ArborCrest Aluminium Windows & Doors.
