CSR Gyprock®, Australia’s leading manufacturer of gypsum-based products, announces the winners of the 2025 Gyprocker™ of the Year Awards. Now in its ninth year, the awards continue to celebrate the skill, innovation and dedication of Gyprock’s customers across multiple categories, showcasing their outstanding contributions to the industry.

“We are delighted to recognise the winners of the 2025 Awards, celebrating the dedication, expertise and innovation of our valued customers,” said Renee McGinty, General Manager, Marketing. “These awards highlight the exceptional skill and commitment plasterers bring to projects of every scale, from standout residential builds to landmark commercial developments.”

“This year marks the introduction of our Apprentice Gyprocker of the Year Award, in support of young people entering the trade. It was pleasing to see so many of the next generation of Gyprockers entering this category. Congratulations to fourth year apprentice, Cruz Gentle from Dylan Marginson Plastering who was presented the inaugural award.”

Cruz was very excited to be chosen as the first winner of the category, having been nominated by his employer, Dylan Marginson, for his work on a dropped ceiling, sheet and set on a residential project at Greenpoint, New South Wales. Dylan, who is a passionate Gyprocker, commented that at only 19 years of age, Cruz is on the right path to being the best Gyprocker in NSW! “I’m so happy for Cruz – his plastering work and work ethics are both exceptional.”

Celebrating women in the plastering industry, the Female Gyprocker of the Year Award was presented to Trinity Donovan for her exceptional work on a commercial fitout. As a second-year apprentice, Trinity took on the challenge of creating a custom arch feature for a body piercing studio, her first attempt at such a design, which also included recessed shelving, cornices and intricate finishing details.

“This project pushed me outside my comfort zone and gave me confidence to problem-solve and deliver detailed work under pressure. It was a turning point in my career, one that confirmed I was exactly where I’m meant to be,” said Trinity. "I researched, asked questions, and leaned on my mentor for guidance, and I’m incredibly proud of the result.”

As the lawyer and civil rights activist, Marian Wright Edelman, said "You cannot be what you cannot see". Trinity's work is best in class, and I know she will inspire others. In order for our trade and industry to continue to prosper we must afford ourselves of all the talent that Australia has to offer,” said Renee.

Key award categories and recipients

People’s Choice Gyprocker of the Year

SJL Plastering was awarded People’s Choice Gyprocker of the Year for their work on an outstanding residential new build in the Northern Rivers region of NSW. The large-scale project showcased a soaring 7.2-metre raked ceiling punctuated by 11 skylights and was completed with shadowline skirting and squareset windows, a complex design that required precision, expertise and acute attention to detail from the team.

“It’s an honour to be recognised for our work and we are extremely proud that this project has led us to winning the award,” said Steven Leifels, owner of SJL Plastering. “The scale of this job added a significant level of complexity and demanded absolute consistency; our team worked tirelessly to deliver a flawless finish.”

“The award reflects our commitment over the past 16 years to delivering the highest standards of workmanship. The versatility of Gyprock products continues to play a vital role in our work, enabling the team to apply a range of techniques across diverse applications and achieve excellent finishes.”

Residential Gyprocker of the Year

The Residential Gyprocker of the Year was awarded to Regno Plasterer for their work on a stunning luxury renovation in St Ives, NSW.

The six-month project showcased the team’s expertise with two giant LED coffered ceilings, a 13-grid LED coffered ceiling with custom cornices, and intricate curved detailing across staircases, walls, ceilings and openings – brought to life with Gyprock Flexible Plasterboard. The result is a stunning home that highlights how plastering can elevate a residence through bespoke architectural detailing. “We are honoured to receive this recognition,” said Calvin Luo, Director of Regno Plasterer. “This project demanded precision and creativity and we are incredibly proud of what our team achieved.”

“Gyprock’s quality and versatility played a key role in the success of the work, giving us complete confidence in meeting industry standards while being able to focus on our craftsmanship.”

Commercial Gyprocker of the Year

Hinton Linings was awarded Commercial Gyprocker of the Year for the transformation of the iconic Juniors Club in Kingsford, NSW. The project showcased complex curved bulkheads, dome coffers, wave details and LED trough pelmets – all handmade on site with Gyprock plasterboard and finished to Level 5 standard, while the club remained open to the public throughout.

“This was one of our favourite projects,” said Steve Hinton, Director at Hinton Linings. “Seeing the builder, client and patrons so pleased with the result was incredibly rewarding, and this award reflects the passion and precision our team brings to every job.”

“We have worked closely with our local Gyprock Trade store at Caringbah for the last 10 years and we continue to rely on the quality and consistency of CSR products that help us deliver standout results across demanding commercial projects.”

Ornamental Gyprocker of the Year

The Ornamental Gyprocker of the Year Award went to Vision Ornate Plaster, an end-to-end plaster moulding manufacturer and installation business, specialising in heritage restoration and reproduction in Melbourne, Victoria.

The business was recognised for their work on the historic ‘Morningstar Estate’ where they reproduced original 1860s cornices and created bespoke ceiling designs in collaboration with Watts Studio and AMC Constructions.

Using a mix of heritage moulds and hand-sculpted clay designs, the team produced intricate rosettes, strapping bosses and ornate ceiling registers, crafted with Gyprock casting plaster and masonry adhesive. “It’s rewarding to be recognised for work in a rare part of the trade,” said Ben Belzunce, Managing Director at Vision Ornate Plaster. “Historically known as fibrous plastering, now ornamental casting, we are one of the few businesses still manufacturing and installing our own moulds. We’re excited to preserve this craft and to share the recognition with my son, who is one of the few apprentices learning it today.”

QLD/NSW/ACT/TAS Gyprocker of the Year

Also recognised at this year’s awards were Ultimate Linings, QLD Gyprocker of the Year, for their work on a striking new innovation centre at St Stephen’s School in Algester; Bietola Interiors, NSW/ACT Gyprocker of the Year for delivering bespoke plaster features to a new residential build; and Ben Stewart Plastering, awarded TAS Gyprocker of the Year for their detailed work on a contemporary residential renovation.

“We’re thrilled to receive this award. It’s rewarding to see everything come together after navigating the complexities of framing, sheeting and setting while combining the many different feature finishes into one cohesive project,” said Jesse Fawkes, Director at Ultimate Linings.

“We’re extremely proud of this project and honoured to be recognised by the industry. To achieve the intricate design requirements, I had to draw on all my 25-plus years of experience resulting in a completed project that we’re extremely delighted with,” said Craig Bietola, Director at Bietola Interiors.

“As a small operator, it’s especially meaningful to receive this award, standing alongside the best in the industry. It’s a humbling moment and a solid reminder of why I love what I do,” said Ben Stewart of Ben Stewart Plastering.
