Mirrastone, one of Victoria’s leading home builders, has announced the appointment of former Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp in an advisory and ambassador role, reinforcing the company’s commitment to housing supply and stronger alignment with government outcomes across the state.

Capp brings extensive experience across government, business, and community sectors, having played a pivotal role in shaping Melbourne’s economic and urban development. Her appointment signals Mirrastone’s intention to take a more strategic and engaged position in addressing housing challenges.

In her role, Capp will work across Mirrastone’s portfolio of brands—including Sherridon Homes, SOHO Living, Royston, Hattan, SOHO Built, and Brilley, enhancing the Group’s ability to engage effectively with government stakeholders.

Capp says she was drawn to Mirrastone’s scale, capability, and commitment to a more purposeful approach to housing delivery.

“What stood out to me is Mirrastone’s ability to make a real impact on the supply side of the housing equation. As Victoria’s largest home builder, they have both the footprint and the capability to contribute meaningfully to housing delivery and most importantly, they want to make a difference,” she says.

“There is a clear need for new ways of thinking across the sector. Mirrastone is continuing to invest in new approaches that have the potential to bring homes to market more efficiently while supporting better outcomes for customers."

Drawing on her experience as Lord Mayor, Capp highlights the diverse challenges faced by stakeholders across regional and rural communities.

“Mirrastone has a brilliant opportunity to play a leadership role in these areas, particularly given its existing presence across regional Victoria,” she says.

“There is a real opportunity for industry and government to work more closely together; collaboration will be key to improving both supply and accessibility over time.”

The announcement comes as both government and industry intensify their focus on housing delivery, amid growing recognition of the need for coordinated, long-term solutions to improve supply and accessibility.

Mirrastone CEO Nathan Jenkinson says the business is focused on leveraging its scale and capability to respond to an increasingly complex housing landscape.

“As the conversation around housing becomes more complex, it’s clear that no single part of the industry can solve it alone,” he says.
