Sydney to host global flagship summit: WELL Summit Sydney 2025
As architecture evolves beyond form and function into a discipline centered on human experience, the WELL movement has emerged as a global force reshaping how we conceive, create, and occupy the built environment. This August, that momentum comes to Sydney with the WELL Summit Sydney 2025—a flagship event in the International WELL Building Institute’s (IWBI) global summit series.
On August 20, 2025, leaders across design, construction, sustainability, policy and health will gather in Sydney to explore the role of buildings and spaces in advancing human well-being. As one of the flagship events in a wider global program spanning North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, the Sydney summit reflects the region’s increasing appetite for people-first, performance-driven spaces.
The event will serve as a key forum for industry professionals to engage in the global conversation around healthy buildings and communities—how they're defined, why they matter, and what best practice looks like as we move into a new era of design and development.
About the WELL movement
At the core of this event is the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), the organisation behind the WELL Building Standard—the world’s leading framework for advancing health in buildings, organisations, and communities. Grounded in science and developed through global consultation, WELL has become a trusted roadmap for measuring and improving how the built environment affects everything from productivity to mental health and physical safety.
IWBI's impact is far-reaching, with over 44,000 projects in 127 countries and adoption across more than 25% of Fortune 500 companies. Whether it's offices, schools, healthcare facilities or homes, WELL provides a universal language for putting people at the centre of design.
A timely and transformative gathering
In the wake of a global health crisis, extreme climate events, and evolving work-life patterns, the WELL Summit arrives in Sydney at a critical time. The built environment is increasingly seen not just as a passive backdrop but as an active contributor to public health, resilience, and equity.
For Australian architects, designers, developers, and policymakers, the summit offers a moment to align with international leaders, draw from global innovations, and assert local leadership in designing spaces that uplift and protect human health.
