Capital Corporation has appointed Sydney-based H&E Architects to design the clubhouse and wellness centre for Lovedale Farm, a major residential and golf community taking shape in the Hunter Valley.

The acclaimed studio will deliver both the architectural and interior design for the 1,200sqm clubhouse that will anchor the championship golf course at Lovedale Farm, creating a central social hub for residents within the 240-hectare development.

H&E Architects has also been engaged to design a wellness centre that, together with the golf facilities and clubhouse, will help set the tone and benchmark for life at the community.

The proposed clubhouse will accommodate a reception lounge, pro shop, signature restaurant and bar, an exclusive members’ lounge and event spaces capable of hosting weddings, meetings and conferences.

The design team was challenged to think beyond conventional country club architecture and create a destination that reflects the refined, relaxed lifestyle envisioned for Lovedale Farm.

Drawing inspiration from the site's heritage as a former dairy farm, the building has been conceived with low, horizontal lines that blend into the landscape. A distinctive floating roof structure has been designed to complement the golf course, particularly around the 18th hole.

Natural materials, including timber, play a prominent role in the architectural language, supported by a carefully curated palette of finishes intended to reflect the surrounding fairways and bushland.

Internally, the clubhouse takes cues from premium hospitality venues rather than traditional golf clubs, with an emphasis on comfort, quality finishes and spaces designed to encourage members, residents and guests to stay longer throughout the day.

“Our objective was to create a clubhouse that feels deeply connected to the lifestyle envisioned for Lovedale Farm, somewhere residents and guests naturally gravitate throughout the day,” says H&E Architects Principal Christopher Grinham.

"We wanted to create something memorable, where the architecture responds to the landscape rather than imposing on it. The low, horizontal lines and the floating roof are a direct response to the former dairy farm setting, and the roof in particular has been designed to sit comfortably in the context of the 18th hole of the championship course."

"There was also a personal pull to this project for me. I've loved golf since I was a young boy, and I still play whenever I get the chance, so the opportunity to design a clubhouse on a championship course in the Hunter Valley was one I was always going to be drawn to," he adds.
