Capital Corporation has officially broken ground on The Residences at Wahroonga Estate, a landmark residential project that will reshape one of Sydney’s most historic properties.

The development marks the beginning of a joint venture between Capital Corporation and the Seventh-day Adventist Church, delivered in partnership with award-winning builder DASCO, architecture firm GroupGSA, and interior designers Coco Republic. The consortium aims to transform the heritage estate into a vibrant, high-end residential community on the city’s Upper North Shore.

“This project will be a luxury landmark for Sydney’s Upper North Shore,” says Jim Hunter, managing director of Capital Corporation.

Located next door to Sydney Adventist Hospital, one of Australia’s leading private healthcare facilities, The Residences has drawn significant interest from buyers seeking proximity to medical care and lifestyle amenities.

Brett Goods, CEO of Sydney Adventist Hospital, says the partnership builds on the hospital’s 120-year legacy of community care. “This development continues our vision of promoting wellness, connection and peace of mind for residents and patients alike,” Goods says.

Recent research commissioned by Capital Corporation highlights the role of health in property decisions. The study found that 35% of Australians are downsizing for health-related reasons and want to live closer to medical facilities. Nearly two-thirds (64%) seek homes near general amenities, while a third (33%) prioritize access to health and wellness services.

Hunter says the findings help explain the project’s success. “The combination of premium design, convenience, and proximity to world-class healthcare has proven to be a major drawcard,” he says.

At the ground-breaking ceremony, NSW Building Commissioner James Sherrard, representatives from the Seventh-day Adventist Church, DASCO, and other stakeholders gathered to celebrate what officials describe as a “model of community-centred development”.

Francois Keet, CFO of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific, says the project represents a reinvestment in local priorities. “This partnership is about more than development; it’s about future-proofing our mission and creating lasting social impact,” Keet says.

Set for completion in 2027, The Residences at Wahroonga Estate will feature 128 luxury, pet-friendly apartments—a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes in one of Sydney’s most desirable suburbs.
