The Design Hub in partnership with RMIT School of Architecture and Design will host internationally renowned architect Alisa Andrasek to showcase her interactive installation Bloom.

Andrasek’s installation Bloom will be on show in conjunction with The Future is Here, a touring exhibition from the London Design Museum. Bloom is designed and developed by Alisa Andrasek and Jose Sanchez from The Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL, and will be on show in Project Room 3, Level 3 at the RMIT Design Hub from 28 August to 11 October 2014.

Described as an urban toy, distributed social game and collective ‘gardening’ experience, Bloom was first installed in London as part of the capital’s city-wide celebration during the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. Bloom seeks the engagement of people to construct its organic, blooming formations; visitors are therefore encouraged to visit the RMIT Design Hub and play with the installation.

The Future is Here exhibition at the RMIT Design Hub will include additional local design research projects that demonstrate the importance of speculation and prototyping to innovation and design. The Future is Here will be accompanied by a full program of associated talks and workshops, including an opportunity for local Melbourne design firms to come and play with Bloom.

Alisa Andrasek will lead a panel discussion on Friday 29 August (6PM - 8PM) at the Multi-Purpose Room, Level 1, RMIT Design Hub.
