Global leader in high performance insulation and building envelopes, Kingspan Insulated Panels supplied insulated guttering, roof and wall panel systems for the Wirtgen Group office and workshops in Perth, Western Australia. Architect T&Z Architects worked with builder FIRM Construction Pty Limited on the project.

According to T&Z Architects, Kingspan’s insulated guttering, roof and wall panel systems together have more than met the specified standards for longevity, thermal and fire performance demanded by Wirtgen.

Mining and road construction machinery specialist Wirtgen Group set a very high standard in terms of design, function and aesthetics for their proposed state-of-the art facility in Perth. Wirtgen sought a building that would demonstrate a strong and convincing local presence; be highly functional in design; have great visual appeal; and also showcase their superior technology and precise, high quality services and engineering facilities.

Considering the harsh climate of Western Australia, the building also needed to perform at a very high level in four key areas: thermal performance durability with excellent building longevity; superior fire performance characteristics; efficiency in construction and commissioning; and maximum design flexibility.

Kingspan’s insulated roof and wall panels, combined with integrated insulated gutters have met and exceeded the requirements and standards specified by Wirtgen Group for their Perth, WA facility.

Perth-based firm T&Z Architects was responsible for sourcing the high performing materials for the new facility comprising of an office and sales section, a warehouse, and specialist service workshops for heavy-duty road construction and mining machinery.

For the complete building envelope, Kingspan Trapezoidal KS1000RW roof panels were selected, along with Kingspan Architectural Wall KS1000 MM Mini-Micro and KS1100CS Controlled Environment panel systems. The integrated Kingspan pre-fabricated, membrane insulated gutters were specified by T&Z Architects to work with a sophisticated syphonic drainage system. T&Z recognised that Kingspan’s insulated gutters were not only ideal for boundary and valley applications, but also ensured longevity and thermal performance while contributing to the overall neat and functional aesthetics of the building.

The T&Z project architect explained that Kingspan’s integrated insulated gutter system was specified because they were confident it would be able to meet more stringent requirements demanded by the syphonic drainage system.

Kingspan’s integrated roof, wall and guttering system has helped to create a showcase for Wirtgen Group’s range of technologies, sophisticated machinery and high quality services.

Kingspan Local Area Sales Manager Russell Hann said Kingspan was proud to be a part of this high profile project in Western Australia. Kingspan was able to match and exceed the project’s exacting standards with the performance characteristics of its insulated panels. He added that Kingspan’s insulated roof, wall and guttering systems were guaranteed to deliver long-lasting thermal performance under very demanding circumstances.

Kingspan Commercial Director Nick Drummond observed that the holistic solution provided by Kingspan really worked for the architects and the client. Kingspan’s integrated system consisting of the roof and wall panels and the insulated gutters forms a total building envelope that not only looks good, but also performs exceptionally well. It also helped that the building envelope was sourced from Kingspan as a single supplier with everything backed by a single Kingspan warranty.
