Frasers Property Australia has opened the new Village Green at Midtown MacPark, marking a major milestone in the transformation of the former Ivanhoe Estate into a vibrant, mixed-tenure community.

Delivering green space, recreation facilities and community amenities, the new 3,300sqm precinct forms the centrepiece of the Midtown MacPark development in Macquarie Park, NSW, and includes a community centre with multipurpose rooms, a community bush tucker garden, playground, and walking and cycling paths. The Village Green sits between the completed SOUL apartment building, and the Treehouse development and the vertical Macquarie Park Public School – both under construction.

The Village Green precinct was designed by landscape architecture practice McGregor Coxall in collaboration with design studio CHROFI as a central gathering space for residents and visitors.

The precinct is part of the broader open space across Midtown MacPark, including the revitalised Shrimptons Creek corridor, woodland areas, pocket parks and a planned forest playground.

Located beneath the community centre is a 25m pay-as-you-go swimming pool and gymnasium. Aqua Culture Swim has been appointed to manage the pool, offering learn-to-swim classes, squad training and hydrotherapy sessions, while Live Well Health Clubs will operate the gym facilities.

The opening of the Village Green marks an important milestone for the precinct, bringing more clarity to the vision for the community, observes Frasers Property Development Director Scott Clohessy.

“The Village Green and its various facilities is going to provide so many new ways to bring people together, whether it’s meeting a new friend at a fitness class at the gym, or while supervising kids in the playground, hosting a family picnic on the lawn or just getting a breath of fresh air on a bench while working from home,” he says.

“We can’t wait to see it become a vital central gathering place for every member of our community.”

Developed by Frasers Property Australia in partnership with Homes NSW and Mission Australia Housing on the site of the former Ivanhoe Estate, Midtown MacPark, on completion, will deliver approximately 3,300 residences, including 950 community housing dwellings – up from 259 on the original estate – alongside 130 affordable homes and a mix of private apartments and terraces.

Two residential buildings, MAC and SOUL, are already complete and occupied, while the Treehouse building is scheduled for completion in 2027. Construction on the next stage is expected to commence in June, with completion anticipated in 2029.

Amanda Murray, National Manager for Housing Operations at Mission Australia Housing, says the organisation is already seeing strong community connections emerge at Midtown MacPark.

“Our weekly Chatty Café and bingo sessions have helped grow this community and turn neighbours into friends, and we’re looking forward to the expanded range of activities that we can offer residents from the new community centre.”

Midtown MacPark is located close to the Macquarie Park Metro station, providing direct rail access to Sydney’s CBD, and is within walking distance of Macquarie Centre and Macquarie University.

The development has been designed as a fully walkable community, with extensive cycling and pedestrian connections aimed at reducing car dependency. Car share operator GoGet already services the precinct, with additional vehicles planned to accommodate the needs of the growing community.

Sustainability initiatives across the all-electric community include rooftop solar, centralised hot water systems, communal gardens and beehives producing honey for residents.

A community events program coordinated by Frasers Property includes walking groups, craft clubs, after-school activities, potluck dinners and educational workshops. Plans are also underway for a “library of things”, allowing residents to borrow tools, appliances, electronics and recreation equipment.
