Designed by COX Architecture, the outcome responds directly to hybrid work realities by giving people something they can’t get at home: a sense of belonging, and the spark that comes from being part of something larger.

“As a global technology leader, Intuit champions inventiveness, collaboration and care. These are values that guided our design response,” says Brooke Lloyd, Director and Interiors Lead at COX Sydney.

“We set out to create a workplace that feels vibrant and human, not just functional.”

In a deliberate break from convention, colour is used as a primary architectural tool to do more than just decorate. The layered palette of rich hues is used to build rhythm and support connection.

At its centre is a sculptural blue oak stairwell that refracts daylight, transforming an everyday element into a statement of identity and movement. Calming, muted tones define focus zones, while vivid hues and soft finishes energise collaborative areas.

“Colour in workplace design is often seen as risky. It’s easier to default to the status quo, which is currently defined by safer neutrals,” Lloyd says. “Intuit embraced the positive impact colour can have, and in a hybrid culture where offices must motivate people to return, colour became a unique tool to support this.”

To support the rhythm of a contemporary workday, COX designed a ‘village’ of neighbourhoods that balances structure with flexibility. Acoustically considered focus zones sit alongside collaborative bump spaces, wellness rooms and operable walls that open or divide three large areas depending on gathering purpose.

A circular floor plan ensures everyone enjoys daylight and outlook, with work points positioned near windows and outdoor spaces. Greenery and native species, introduced in partnership with First Nations design consultant, Yerrabingin, support urban biodiversity and reinforce a sense of calm.

Drawing on Sydney’s texture, light and character, the new workplace also reflects Intuit’s broader APAC presence. An art strategy by Art Pharmacy threads regional identity through meeting rooms named for regions and artworks by APAC artists.

Extra-large waste terrazzo flooring, hospitality-inspired lighting and crafted joinery echo Sydney’s relaxed sense of luxe and ease.

“The outcome is a workplace that sparks collaboration and reflects the rhythms of modern tech culture as functional, warm and distinctly human,” Lloyd says.
