Three decades worth of dam engineering experience will bolster GHD’s team for the sector in the mould of Andrew Reynolds, the company’s new Australian Dams Leader.

The announcement of Reynolds as Dams Leader will assist businesses in the dams industry to provide more for their communities. The Canberra-based engineer is regarded as an expert in the field, and is the former Chair of the Australian National Committee on Large Dams (ANCOLD), Australia’s peak dam engineering industry body.

“Andrew is a highly respected professional with outstanding leadership qualities. His ability to bring a client perspective and grow GHD’s technical capability for dams in collaboration with our water infrastructure business will add value to all our dams clients and their communities,” says GHD’s Australian Water Market Leader Lindsey Brown.

“I am particularly pleased to appoint someone with such a strong track record in accelerating diversity and inclusion, and long-established stakeholder relationships. Given he is someone who could go anywhere in the industry, we are proud that Andrew has chosen GHD,” says Lindsey Brown.

Reynolds says joining the firm will allow him to provide clients with advice and assistance, completely transforming the project delivery of a GHD-designed project.

“GHD has an enviable track record serving the Australian dams industry and, with GHD’s broad regional footprint, this role gives me the opportunity to work with large and small clients right across the country. Having worked extensively in the public dam-owning sector, my experience will ensure we understand and focus on the issues that really matter to dam owners,” he says.

“Whether that is supporting major investment in new and upgraded dams, good governance and management of existing dams, dealing with the challenges posed by climate change and the transition to net zero, or working with stakeholders, I bring a perspective and drive to ensure we are helping our clients solve their diverse challenges,“ says Andrew.

Andrew was formerly the Executive Director and previously Acting Chief Executive of the Murray Darling Basin Authority.
