Architectus has announced the promotion of two employees to the role of Principal, as well as four new Senior Associate appointments.

The appointments have been made in order for the practice to cater for the demands of new projects and a growing transport sector.

“Architectus is starting the year strongly with a diverse and talented cohort of promotions and new appointments. As our cities grow, we’re focused on enhancing our team across all sectors and geographies to continue to deliver city-changing projects throughout the nation,” says Architectus CEO Ray Brown.

“We are especially proud of new Principals, Mena and Nigel, who are both highly regarded by clients and team members for their commitment to exceptional outcomes and demonstrated leadership skills. Our new Senior Associates will strengthen our commercial, residential and transport design teams.

“We warmly welcome our new appointments and look forward to working with them to keep driving success and innovation across all our projects.”

Mena Kubba has been promoted to Principal in the Melbourne Studio, off the back of driving success and innovation across a number of Transport projects in just over a year at Architectus.

A skilled strategic and conceptual thinker, Kubba’s experience has primarily focused on transport infrastructure projects, most recently working on the Suburban Rail Loop with Architectus as part of the AJM consortium. The architect was previously involved in a number of transport infrastructure projects, primarily through her work with Melbourne Metro working as a collaborative leader during the design and delivery of the five new Melbourne stations.

Her focus on delivering high quality, functional design outcomes is reflected in a portfolio that encompasses several winning and shortlisted architectural design competition entries in Australia, the UK and South Africa.

Nigel Justins has been promoted to Principal in the Sydney Studio, helping to grow the Transport sector through his deep expertise acquired from more than 25 years’ professional experience. After seven years at Architectus, he has become a widely recognised leader in the transport infrastructure sector, combining his highly regarded design, technical and leadership skills. Justins has worked extensively with government, design consultants and contractors on light and heavy rail projects throughout Australia, including metro systems, interchanges, new and upgraded stations, traction substations, stabling and maintenance facilities, depots and multi-storey car parks.

His latest projects include Brookfield Place, Valley Metro, Northern Beaches Bus Rapid Transit, New Intercity Fleet Maintenance Facility and Central Precinct Renewal Project Reference Design.

Stuart Uren heads the list of new Senior Associates, joining the Adelaide Studio with more than 25 years’ experience in architecture, interior design and master planning across Australia and the Middle East. Vivian Sin joins the Sydney Studio from the UK, with experience in high profile transport and placemaking projects, including five central section Crossrail stations and transport hubs in London. John MacLeod joins the Sydney Studio with more than 20 years’ experience in the residential and commercial sectors across Australia, the UK and Europe, while John Paisa joins the Melbourne Studio with more than 20 years’ international experience working on multi-million dollar commercial, industrial, single and multi-sector projects.
