Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) continues to lead the world rankings in the latest list of the top architecture schools released recently by QS Top Universities.

This year’s QS World University Rankings for Architecture/Built Environment ranks the world’s 200 top architecture schools. Here’s a region-wise snapshot of the world’s top architecture schools.

US & Canada

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has been consistently ranked first among the world’s top architecture schools, scoring a perfect 100 for academic reputation.

The University of California, Berkeley (UCB) with a ranking of five, and Harvard University with a ranking of six worldwide also make the list.

Among Canadian universities, the University of British Columbia has the highest ranking at 32nd, followed by the University of Toronto at joint 43rd.

Europe

The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL (University College London) is ranked second behind MIT in the architecture ranking this year.

The Delft University of Technology based in the Netherlands, retains its third position in this year’s architecture ranking, earning its strongest score for employer reputation.

Switzerland’s ETH Zurich comes in at 4th, while Manchester School of Architecture (seventh) and the University of Cambridge (eighth) are the other notable names on the list.

Asia

Singapore’s National University of Singapore (NUS) is ranked 10th in the world for architecture this year, while China’s Tsinghua University retains its position of 11th in the world, earning its best score for employer reputation.

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has ranked 12th in the world for architecture this year.

Australia & New Zealand

The highest-ranked university in the Oceania for architecture is the University of Sydney in 16th place followed by the University of Melbourne, which is ranked 21st in the world, and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) placing 23rd in the world rankings.

Three New Zealand universities also make the list and include the University of Auckland, Victoria University of Wellington, and new entrant Massey University.

Rest of the World

Latin American universities named in the top 200 list include Universidade de São Paulo (USP) at 28th, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC) ranking 33rd, and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) ranked 49th in the world for architecture.

Architecture schools in Africa & the Middle East making the list include the University of Cape Town in South Africa, Istanbul Technical University and Middle East Technical University, Egypt’s Cairo University and Israel’s Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.
