LG has been making TVs for quite a while now. One could almost say they have perfected the art of great TV design, an important facet to those that want their AV to at least try and match their home and/or office designs.

In many ways, a TV is part and parcel of a modern home’s ‘digital display, so on that point, consumers won’t be disappointed when they see LGs G2 65-inch OLED evo TV Gallery Edition.

Getting straight to the heart of the matter, the G2 picture quality is very good, but the whole list of its useful attributes is long, too long to list here in fact, but I’ll try.

OK, so the LG G2 has got four HDMI 2.1 inputs, which although not exceptional can be very useful.

This TV can be wall-mounted but the model we tested was the stand mount version.

My only complaint about the stand-mount option is that it’s something that you need to purchase separately since LG wants this TV to be (mainly) mounted on the walls, an option that is liked by almost as many as despise this idea.

Tech-wise, the G2 has a variable refresh rate, auto low-latency, FreeSync Premium and access to all known Dolby audio versions as well. Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa support have also been integrated via LG’s remote-control voice-recognition feature.

And then there is of course the now infamous “Magic Remote”, or if you like, the best way to play Twister without actually using a Twister mat.

If you can manage to control the mouse-like cursor via this remote, then you really should consider joining Cirque du Soleil as a contortionist.

But it’s the options in picture quality where the G2 is in a class of its own. It has Vivid, Standard, Filmmaker Mode, APS, Cinema, Cricket, Game Optimiser, ISF Bright Room and ISF Dark Room modes.

Oddly, it is in Standard mode where the screen looked most natural.

In terms of ease of use, the G2 has Netflix, Apple TV+, Kayo, Disney ‘on tap’ as it were, which is exactly where you want these streaming services – at your fingertips.

Overall, LG’s G2 65-inch OLED evo TV Gallery Edition looks, good, works well and is easy to use and also comes with many useful options.

What else could you ask for?

Well, OK, maybe a stand-mount option that’s included with the TV unit.

What’s under the hood:

  • 5 Year Panel Warranty
  • Designed to be wall-mounted with included slim wall mount, optional table-top stand is sold separately
  • Designed for the ultimate movie, gaming and sport viewing experience
  • Dolby Vision IQ for true-to-life picture & Dolby Atmos for immersive sound
  • Smart platform with Netflix, Apple TV+, Kayo, Disney+ and more
