International Design

The Sustainability Awards 2025 recognise outstanding achievements in environmentally responsible design, and the International Design category, sponsored by SAS International, highlights the best in sustainable architecture beyond Australia’s borders.

This category celebrates exceptional projects from around the world that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability while being deeply rooted in their local context.

Whether a repurposed historic structure, a net-zero carbon development, or an innovative community space designed to withstand climate challenges, these buildings showcase how architecture can be both forward-thinking and sensitive to its surroundings.

The best projects in this category respond to the unique climate, culture, and environmental conditions of their region while incorporating cutting-edge sustainability strategies.

Recognition in this category provides a global platform for pioneering sustainable design. The Sustainability Awards 2025 bring together industry leaders, architects, and sustainability advocates, offering an opportunity to showcase best practices and influence sustainable architecture on an international scale.

Winning or being shortlisted highlights a project’s success in setting new benchmarks for environmentally conscious design.

A strong entry in this category will demonstrate how sustainability is embedded at every level, from material choices to energy performance and long-term resilience.

SAS International, as the category sponsor, champions high-performance architectural solutions that support energy efficiency and innovative design. Their commitment to sustainability aligns with the principles of this award, celebrating projects that are both functional and environmentally responsible.

As the world faces increasing environmental challenges, this category recognises projects that not only push the boundaries of sustainability but also respect and enhance the communities and landscapes they inhabit.

Entries open for the 2025 program on May 7, click here to be notified.
