Precision is critical when installing passive fire protection in confined or hard-to-access spaces. Increasingly, services must be positioned close to slab edges or adjacent substrates – a challenge that FIREFLYBatt with close-to-edge detailing effectively solves. This innovation allows installers to maintain compliance and performance without sacrificing tight installation tolerances.

Engineered for tight tolerances

FIREFLYBatt eliminates the need for a 40mm gap between services and substrates by friction-fitting on three sides. This system supports installations where services sit snugly against slab edges or at the interface of apertures and fire-separating elements. Services may be positioned close to the interface between FIREFLYBatt (main firestopping) and the aperture of the wall or floor (the primary fire-separating element), where:

The FIREFLYBatt is in an aperture fit for primary fire-separating elements in the assessment FAS190234 report RIR1.7 dated 28 July 2022 or other subsequent revisions of the report.
Services maintain the minimum annular gaps described in ‘local fire protection’ in the tables and additional figures where listed in this report.
The separating element is at least the same thickness as the total thickness of the FIREFLYBatt layers.
Services protected with FIREFLY FRF Series collars are excluded from this concession.

Friction-fit simplicity

Designed for friction-fit installation using only mastic, FIREFLYBatt avoids the need for mechanical fixings, streamlining the installation process.

Tested and certified

Supported by rigorous testing documented in FAS190235, FIREFLYBatt performs reliably across cable and steel pipe penetrations, providing confidence to specifiers and certifiers alike.

Versatile applications

Proven on diverse substrates – concrete tilt panels, Hebel walls, concrete floors – FIREFLYBatt adapts seamlessly to varying installation scenarios without compromising fire integrity.
