Washing of hands, particularly with touch-free tapware and equipment is seen as an ideal solution to reduce potential germ and virus transmission in high traffic areas of public facilities, for obvious reasons.

Hence, there has also been an imperative for designers to integrate sensor taps into bathroom situations in both new developments, as well as existing bathrooms environments where standard tapware is in place.

New developments, by their very nature, allow for greater ease of specification of electronic tapware. The ability to consider water and power requirements, spatial considerations, as well as aesthetics from the outset often means that standard models are the perfect choice for specification – although this is often not the case.

Retro-fitting Sensor Taps

The changeover will need to consider the previous taps and the accessories/fittings used in their installation, as well as the surfaces and finishes around the tapware itself, such as tiles, mirrors and basins.
