Located at Royal Park, Parkville, less than four kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD, Urban Camp offers an unrivalled camp experience accommodating and catering for up to 128 guests, mostly students, as they explore the city’s cultural, educational, and recreational attractions.

On average, Urban Camp welcomes 10,000 young people each year. The award-winning site includes two accommodation wings featuring light-filled dormitories with bunk beds.

Melbourne City Council asked Forbo to visit Urban Camp to provide a solution to enhance the ramp leading from the foyer to the lower ground dorms.

While safety flooring was originally considered, Flotex was selected as a better solution to provide non-slip, easy-clean and durable flooring, with the added benefit of acoustic savings and underfoot comfort.

Forbo Flotex Converge planks were selected as a good option – they have an acoustic impact saving of 19dB and are quick and easy to install.

The amenities were also refurbished with a coordinating safety vinyl.

“We are happy with the refreshed flooring throughout the facility. The Flotex carpet on the ramp has provided added grip underfoot, which is a terrific outcome. The flooring holds up well to the rigors of continual use and cleaning, and little spillages from guests and support dogs. The facility presents really well and we could not fault the result,” says Urban Camp.
