Atkar Group has introduced a new 67mm wide furring channel designed to achieve maximum crack resistance in seamless acoustic ceiling installations.

Continuously perforated acoustic plaster ceilings are trending in commercial buildings due to their modern design and seamless finish. However, additional consideration needs to be given to this type of ceiling to ensure acoustic perforations are not filled and that the ceiling joints are framed properly to reduce the likelihood of cracking.

At 67mm, Atkar Group’s new wider furring channel reduces the need for double furring channels to be used at the joints, which not only ensures reduced joint movement and cracking but also cuts framing time on site.

Atkar’s 67mm wide furring channel is recommended for VoglFuge acoustic plasterboard ceilings, which also use a simple joint tape glue system, eliminating messy caulking or compound joint fillers, and making the install process faster and easier. The new wider furring channel also lends itself to express joints in soffit linings, giving a better fixing advantage at the sheet edge.

The new furring channel saves time and labour on site as it replaces two standard furring channels with one 67mm wide option.
