3M has simplified the selection of industrial masking tapes by creating a 5-tape system to help users choose the right tape for their job.

The 5-tape system consists of 101+ 3M value masking tape, 201+ 3M general use masking tape, 301+ 3M performance yellow masking tape, 401+/233+ 3M high performance green masking tape, and 501+ 3M high temperature masking tape.

3M Value Masking Tape 101+

Designed for basic jobs, this basic tape is ideal for indoor use, especially in light-duty applications such as marking, temporary holding, wrapping and sealing.

3M General Use Masking Tape 201+

The tough tape for everyday jobs, the 201+ range is suitable for general indoor use, and is light-to-medium duty, smooth and conformable. The tape sticks to a wide variety of surfaces, is easy to handle, apply and remove in one piece, and ideal for bundling, labelling and identifying.

3M Performance Yellow Masking Tape 301+

A dependable choice for industrial performance, these masking tapes offer good conformability to irregular surfaces, resist paint bleed-through, and are ideal for creating paint lines, industrial paint masking, bundling, holding, marking, colour coding and sealing. The 301+ range has a yellow backing for good visibility, and can withstand surface temperatures up to 107°C for 30 minutes.

3M High Performance Green Masking Tape 401+/233+

The industrial strength green coloured tapes are highly conformable to many surfaces, offer superior adhesion to metal, rubber, glass and plastic, remove cleanly in one piece with no residue, resist paint bleed-through, and create super-sharp paint lines. The green backing improves visibility and accuracy during paint masking. Ideal for high performance industrial painting, including two-tone colour application on trucks, buses, trailers, trains, fire trucks, ambulances and airplanes, these tapes can withstand surface temperatures up to 121°C for 30 minutes.

3M Specialty High Temperature Masking Tape 501+

Offering a high degree of industrial performance, the 501+ industrial masking tapes are exceptionally conformable to irregular surfaces, offer superior adhesion to metal, rubber, glass and plastic, and remove cleanly in one piece with no residue. The tape’s extra-strong backing resists bleed-through from most industrial paints, and helps create super-sharp paint lines. The 501+ range is ideal for all high temperature paint baking, fascia painting and pipe coating applications, and can withstand surface temperatures up to 149°C for 30 minutes.
