Global professional services firm GHD has announced Jane Cassidy as one of the inaugural recipients of its Distinguished Technical Leader designation, a new recognition celebrating employees who exemplify world-class technical achievement, exceptional depth of expertise, visionary leadership, and innovation across disciplines and geographies.

Cassidy is currently serving as Director of GHD Design. As immediate past President of the Australian Institute of Architects, she demonstrated an exceptional commitment to decarbonisation, and reforming culture and governance to empower the profession.

“Architecture is a powerful tool for shaping equitable, resilient communities,” says Cassidy. “We have a responsibility to design not just for today, but for generations to come.”

Throughout her career, she has led major projects across Australia and the Pacific, including complex infrastructure developments in healthcare, aged care, education, defence, and cultural sectors. Known for her strategic acumen and commercial insight, she has helped shape communities in these regions with a focus on adaptability and collaboration.

Beyond project delivery, Cassidy is known for her advocacy for sustainable design and climate adaptation, championing the Architecture Industry Decarbonisation Plan, developed in collaboration with industry bodies to guide the transition of Australia’s built environment towards net zero and a circular economy.
