Mushroom Group moved to Dundas Lane in 1980, eight years after Michael Gudinski founded the business in nearby St Kilda in 1972. In close to five decades of occupation, the building has served as the operational base from which many of Australia’s most significant music careers were built, among them Kylie Minogue, Jimmy Barnes, Split Enz, Skyhooks, Archie Roach, Paul Kelly, Hunters & Collectors, Yothu Yindi, Vance Joy, The Temper Trap, Vika & Linda, Dan Sultan and The Teskey Brothers.

The property is also the birthplace of Frontier Touring, which grew into one of the largest concert promoters in the southern hemisphere, producing tours by Taylor Swift, The Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen and Foo Fighters across Australia and New Zealand.

Mushroom Group Chief Executive Matt Gudinski says finding the right buyer to carry the building’s history forward is a priority. “Dundas Lane has been an incredible part of Mushroom’s history and is globally renowned in the music industry. I’ve been coming here my entire life, and it’s hard to overstate what this place means to everyone at Mushroom,” Mr Gudinski says. “As we look ahead, finding the right custodian to carry Dundas Lane’s storied history into its next chapter is incredibly important to us. It will be sad to leave so many memories behind, but we’re excited for what the future might hold for this iconic address.”
