The 2015 Good Design Awards have been run and won for another year, once again awarding the most innovative new designs for a range of categories including Architectural Design, as well as Hardware and Building and Commercial and Industrial products.

The Architectural Design category saw three prizes awarded in 2015, including an Overall Winner, a Commercial and Residential prize and an Urban Design and Public Spaces award.

The overall winner went to UK design-firm Tangerine for their Snoozebox project which is a portable hotel comprising six rooms measuring 3.6m x 2m x 2m. The rooms are delivered on-site for event and festival accommodation and can be adapted internally to suit a range of customers, providing a day room as well as seven different en-suite sleeping configurations ranging from a double, a double with singles, to a twin or four bunks.

Aussie firms Harwyn (architecture and construction) and Hansen Partnership (landscape and urban design) were the prize-getters in the Commercial and Residential and the Urban Design awards respectively, Harwyn awarded for their prefabricated building pods made from PIR panels and Alucobond cladding, and Hansen for their MacKenzie Falls Gorge Trail landscape design project.

Other industry related awards included the Hardware and Building category prize which was awarded to a ducted evaporative cooler system from Brivis which can be installed within the roof space, and the Commercial and Industrial award which was given to Kennovations for their Heliostat and Reflector System used for Sydney’s One Central Park.

The Overall Winner went to Tesla’s Model S, designed by Franz Von Holzhausen which is the world’s first premium sedan built from the ground up as an electric vehicle.
