TCL to design plaza for Sydney’s National Maritime Museum

Architectural design studio Taylor Cullity Lethlean (TCL) will design a plaza concept for the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) in Sydney. The museum houses one of the most extensive collections of operational heritage vessels in the world.

Part of a broader site transformation to establish the Maritime Heritage Precinct, the project includes the construction of two new wharves to accommodate the Australian National Maritime Museum, the Sydney Heritage Fleet and visiting vessels. The existing Welcome Wall that honours immigrants to Australia will also be reconfigured to align with new design objectives.

TCL's scope includes a new waterfront connecting the maritime museum with the Wharf 7 building. The plaza’s design will take inspiration from both context and location, and will be linked to narratives shaped by the sea.

The team is currently working on a preferred concept design.
