A sod-turning ceremony marked the commencement of construction at Stockland’s Stanton Place apartment development in Rosebery in Sydney’s inner south.

Located on Dunning Avenue, the development, designed by Rothelowman, will deliver a refined collection of 144 apartments across three buildings as part of the continuing renewal of Rosebery. A 2,000sqm landscaped garden, a curated public laneway and two basement levels containing 161 car spaces are also part of the development, with the designer residences targeting both owner-occupiers and investors.

The sod turn represents a significant step for the company’s growing apartment portfolio, says Stockland Executive General Manager, Apartments, Ben Christie.

“Stanton Place is an important milestone for Stockland as we continue to expand our Apartments business and contribute to increasing housing supply in well-located urban areas,” he says.

“With more than 70 years of development expertise, we are focused on delivering high-quality homes that respond to changing lifestyles, increase housing supply and are well connected to transport, jobs and services.”

The developer will continue collaborating with governments and local stakeholders to support housing growth with appropriate infrastructure and amenity, Christie shares.

“Developments in well-located urban areas, like Stanton Place, play a vital role in urban renewal, helping revitalise established suburbs while creating vibrant, connected communities close to where people want to live.”

Residents at Stanton Place will have access to expansive landscaped areas including a private “secret garden” with barbecue facilities designed by Architectus, along with a future laneway café space. The development is located close to transport connections and major dining and cultural precincts including Surry Hills, Alexandria and Newtown.

According to Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, the project demonstrates how higher-density housing could be integrated into established urban areas.

“This is a great example of density done well, delivering more homes close to transport, jobs and public spaces. It’s fantastic to see construction now underway on Stanton Place, which will bring more than 140 new homes to Rosebery while contributing to the ongoing revitalisation of Sydney’s inner south.”

Stanton Place forms part of a broader apartment pipeline for Stockland, alongside the Waterloo South renewal project being delivered in partnership with the NSW Government and a proposed 52-storey tower at 601 Pacific Highway in St Leonards.
