Spike, the world’s first laser accurate smartphone accessory, can measure, map, and 3D model any object up to 600 feet away.

Designed and created by New Zealand-based IkeGPS, whose modelling and mapping technology is already being used by the US and UN Army, Spike (Smart Phone Ike) is a laser-based device that attaches to a phone.

It allows users to measure the distance to an object using a laser range finder, and has the capacity to measure the volume and area of objects, and verify the exact location of a target.

Spike can also identify the bearing and relative altitude of an object, and create accurately scaled, geolocated, photographically textured 3D models.

Its measurement functionality is driven from the single Spike app, within which you can select your chosen measurement criteria.

Targeted at both professional and recreational applications, Spike contains patented laser, compass and Bluetooth technology that integrates with the phone’s camera and GPS. Its laser accuracy makes Augmented Reality (AR) experiences real, and is expected to enable the development of immersive laser-based smartphone apps.

As a smartphone accessory, Spike empowers anyone, including architects, engineers, and interior designers, to develop and experience AR readily and easily.
