National design firm Rothelowman announces the appointment of Michael Banak to the role of principal architect in their commercial office division. Banak joins a group of seven principal architects at Rothelowman including Founding Principals Shane Rothe and Kim Lowman, Managing Principal Nigel Hobart, and state principals Jeff Brown, Stuart Marsland, Chris Hayton and Ben Pomroy.

With 20-years industry experience and as a former Crone Architects director, Banak brings considerable experience to his new role, with his local projects having had a significant impact in shaping Australia’s commercial skyline. Some of his high profile projects include 400 George Street, Sydney (Investa); Latitude at World Square, Sydney (Ernst & Young); 275 George Street, Brisbane (Telstra); and a new 60,000-square-metre office project at 180 Brisbane, Brisbane (Daisho).

Banak has also designed international office projects in China, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines.

A Green Star accredited professional and a member of the Green Building Council of Australia, Banak’s focus on sustainability is expected to influence Rothelowman’s office design.

Banak will partner with NSW/ACT Principal Ben Pomroy to deliver commercial and multi-residential projects for clients in Rothelowman’s Victoria, Queensland and NSW/ACT studios.

Banak is also a signatory to the Male Champions of Change Charter through the Australian Institute of Architects (NSW Chapter), which aims to encourage diversity of gender, age, skill and culture at all levels of architecture practice.
