QLD heads to the polls to decide the state’s finest landscape architecture
While the official awards are adjudicated by a panel of industry experts, Queenslanders now have an opportunity to participate and make their voices heard.
The Queensland Chapter of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) will celebrate the state’s leading examples of landscape architecture on Thursday 12 June at Blackbird, located in Brisbane’s central business district.
“I can assure Queenslanders, they’ll have a tough job narrowing the field to one favourite design!” says Chair of the AILA Queensland Jury, David Hatherly.
“All of this year’s entries display a high degree of creativity and sensitivity to their sites, essential ingredients for the most successful built and natural landscapes.”

Landscape architects design natural environments, such as parks, precincts, wetlands and gardens, that contribute to stronger local economies through increased visitation, enhanced property values, and job creation.
Well-conceived landscapes are accessible, sustainable, and show care for Country. At its best, landscape architecture can enhance community wellbeing, while supporting the renewal and protection of plant and animal species.
