The Great Room by Industrious has launched its second Australian location at One O’Connell Street in Sydney’s CBD, just six months after CBRE’s acquisition of the premium flex-space brand in January 2025, indicating growing confidence in the coworking space sector across Asia-Pacific. Following the success of its first Sydney location at 85 Castlereagh Street, which is now 85 per cent occupied, the group is planning further expansion in key Australian cities.

Located between Circular Quay and Martin Place in the landmark One O’Connell tower, a premium-grade WELL-certified building owned by Lendlease, the new 2,356sqm space spans Levels 14 and 15 and offers spectacular views of the iconic Harbour Bridge.

According to Su Anne Mi, COO, Co-founder and CEO-designate, The Great Room by Industrious, the phenomenal response to their Castlereagh Street location has resulted in the addition of another floor to meet demand while the One O’Connell space further builds their Sydney footprint. “We are definitely scaling our presence here, and in the months to come, we will have more announcements in key Australian cities.”

Designed by M Moser Associates, the interiors are informed by Sydney’s natural palette and architectural heritage, reflected in the earthy tones and curved forms offset by refined bronze coloured detailing, including brass hexagonal lattice-work panels between the stairwell and conservatory.

“This space was conceived as a journey: a tactile, light-filled canvas where each detail invites discovery. Balancing the rhythm of working life with the elegance of a boutique hotel, we focused on timeless design that reflects the spirit of Sydney and nurtures both productivity and connection,” explains Melissa Noy, Associate Design Strategist at M Moser Associates.

Natural light floods the workspaces across the two interconnected floors, with a sculptural internal stairwell and breakout spaces enhancing flow. Key features include a marble breakfast bar in the communal light-filled lounge framed by plush velvet and bouclé armchairs, terracotta-toned carpets and earthy accents inspired by Sydney’s sandstone surroundings; curved twilight blue leather banquettes nestled within a generously sized conservatory-style alcove for collaborative moments; a visually commanding boardroom designed for impact; and a spacious event suite purpose-built to host both intimate gatherings and large-scale activations.

The Great Room is designed for hybrid teams, startups, SMEs, and enterprise clients, with private offices, hot-desking zones, enterprise suites and expansive communal areas offering flexible workspace solutions that grow alongside evolving business needs. Accessibility is prioritised through hearing-friendly configurations, ergonomic furniture, and barrier-free design.
