Designs for a 14-level apartment building that includes “the most expensive apartment in Melbourne” have been revealed by Bruce Henderson Architects.

The apartment complex, called The Muse, will sit near the notoriously wealthy enclave of South Yarra, facing the Royal Botanic Gardens to the north. 45 residences featuring “luxe six-star amenities” will be on offer, with full customisation available to apartment interiors on commission. Even access to the display suite is being offered as invite-only, and potential investors will need to have “a minimum of $2,500,000 to be a part of this exclusive club”.

Designs reveal a contoured glass façade, which is intended to look as though it disappears within the Shrine of Remembrance from the vantage point of Melbourne CBD. The building will be bordered by gardens designed by Paul Bangay.

“[The Muse] is designed as a work of art with a silver-blue glass façade gathering in crisp pleats flowing out like a fine veil caught by a gentle breeze,” elaborates the press release. “Curved glass formed a powerful prow down the building’s height at street junction to the lobby entrance, which is elegantly framed by Paul Bangay-designed entrance gardens.

“Contoured to disappear within the Shrine of Remembrance vista from the CBD, The Muse’s elongated profile can be broken down architecturally into two distinct forms, the Podium and the Tower. All apartments will feature penthouse-quality finishes, large terraces and 10ft ceilings. Most apartments will have private garaging for a minimum of three cars, each extra wide of course to cater for its residents luxury collections [sic].”

A two-level display residence is currently under construction above the site’s existing building on St. Kilda Road.
