German photographer Thomas Kellner and Melbourne photographer Ben Wrigley will be exhibiting their works at the upcoming Ballarat International Foto Biennale (BIFB).

Launching on 22 August, BIFB’15 will celebrate Australian and international photography during the month-long exhibition. Interpretations of architecture and design photography will be one of the many key themes at the 2015 biennale.

Thomas Kellner will visit Melbourne to open his exhibition ‘Genius Loci’ at the BIFB’15. Kellner’s trademark style of utilising a contact-sheet method to visually deconstruct architectural icons will be showcased at the event.

Kellner explains that the project represents in an artistic photographical manner, two important industrial areas in Germany and Russia, which are linked to each other through the common history of industrial culture.

Melbourne-based photographer, Ben Wrigley will present an installation titled ‘The Dream Machine’ featuring his current series of multimedia works, which seeks to investigate the personal cyclical challenges of habit, expression and addiction. An architectural and landscape photographer, Wrigley has been exploring the theme of the ‘Human-Nature’ conundrum for the past seven years.

The BIFB Core Program is a series of invited exhibitions by 21 artists, representing some of the best and most innovative contemporary photographic practice. The Core Program is staged in seven unique heritage buildings in Ballarat, Victoria.
