The Port Arthur Historic Sites Management Authority is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from design consultancies for the upgrade of the existing Visitor Centre located at Port Arthur Historic Site in Tasmania.

The existing Visitor Centre was only built in 1998 but has since been outgrown by the site’s substantial increase in visitor numbers, leading the Authority to now call for its upgrade.

EOIs for a Scoping, Feasibility and Options Analysis are being sought by the Authority from firms with demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of Visitor Services for major tourism sites to an International standard.

Interested parties must register their interest by 2pm Wednesday 27 May 2015 before a formal brief and tendering process for professional services is announced.

In accordance with Tasmanian Procurement Guidelines the Authority says they could limit the parties invited to tender and that all interested parties should provide evidence of:

Nominated Architects registration with the Board of Architects in their relevant state and capacity for Accreditation with the Tasmanian Building Practitioners Scheme and Board of Architects Tasmania;
Appropriate insurances;
Appropriate experience in the design and implementation of visitor centres (or similar public facilities) with complex operational requirements;
Demonstrated understanding of the complexities of major alterations and additions to an operational site;
Demonstrated capacity to liaise with complex stakeholder groups in the delivery of projects of this nature;
Qualifications, experience and skills of key personnel;
