Shortlisted entries

This year’s shortlist for International Design features an inspiring lineup of projects:

• Rénovation et Extension du Château de Beaucastel by Studio Méditerranée and Studio Mumbai (France)

Domaine de Beaucastel is located in the South of France in the wine growing region.jpg — The architects’ proposal for this extension roots itself in the idea of terroir. Tuned into the cyclical flux of the moon, the project harnesses materials found in the immediate environment.

• Sunner Museum by Atelier Alter Architects (China)

Situated in the extended area of the Wuyi Mountains the area is rich in forests and has a pleasant ecological environment.jpg — Adopting the concept of "recreating the mountain landscape", the architects aim to seamlessly integrate the building with the landscape.

• Veil House by Enclave Architects (Bahrain)

The design of Veil House is fundamentally shaped by environmental conditions.jpg — Veil House is a private residence in Bahrain that exemplifies sustainable architecture rooted in climate responsiveness, material integrity, and cultural relevance.

These projects exemplify excellence in International Design, celebrating the best environmentally responsible designed project from around the world, recognises the design and environmental qualities of a building that is located outside of Australia, while also pursuing a design that is sympathetic to its local surrounding in order to give it a new purpose.

Now in its 19th year, the Sustainability Awards is Australia’s longest-running and most prestigious program celebrating excellence in sustainable design and architecture. On 19 November 2025, winners across 18 categories will be announced at the five-star Gala Evening at Sydney Town Hall.

The same day, the Sustainability Summit at The Fullerton Hotel, Sydney, and streamed online, offers a day-long CPD program led by industry experts to educate and inspire the Australian architecture and design community.
