Carbon Positive House by ArchiBlox wins 2015 Sustainability Awards - Single Dwelling (New) prize

The latest project from the design and construction team that brought us the much-celebrated Carbon Positive House will house ice cream not people.

Winners of the 2015 Sustainability Awards Single Dwelling (New) category, Archiblox has designed and constructed an innovative pop-up ice cream experience space for the House of Häagen-Dazs which is set to open to the public on Friday 11 March 2016.

The new House of Häagen-Dazs is a prefabricated construction that will temporarily function from Federation Square for six weeks and will then be relocated to the Overseas Passenger Terminal at the Rocks.

The pod’s prefabricated construction was accomplished in 10 weeks using prefabricated building methods and materials that carry high sustainable properties. Archiblox’s latest project breaks the mould of transportable houses, and redefines the intersection between residential architecture and retail commercialisation.

The House of Häagen-Dazs’ prefabricated pod features a fit-out of detailed joinery with intricate panelling, custom booth seating and sophisticated window portals embodied with suspended planters and rope detailing, creating a Scandinavian vibe.

Specialising in architecturally designed prefabricated transportable houses, Archiblox was recently celebrated as one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2016 by Fast Company. Archiblox is the only Australian architecture firm to make the list, placing third in the Top Ten Companies by Sector for Architecture.
