Adelaide’s highest apartment building has been approved by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, following a series of other developments and proposals in the city.

At 132 metres and spanning 40 levels, Realm Adelaide by Elenberg Fraser (which was submitted for approval in October) will have 320 one, two, three and four bedroom apartments.

The project also offers two double storey penthouses and aims to bring the first five-star hotel-like lifestyle experience to the city through its interior design and two levels of planned resident amenity, consisting of a rooftop spa and wellness facility.

Adelaide Realm, located on Austin Street, is planned above the existing Renaissance Arcade and will revive Assay House, built in 1858, by restoring the façade and potentially creating a bar and restaurant in the historic building.

“[Realm Adelaide’s] golden geometric form will stand out on the Adelaide skyline, creating a strong architectural statement in the city,” says Elenberg Fraser founder Callum Fraser.

This development follows the recent approval of Adelaide’s tallest building designed by Brown Falconer Architects. Other projects in the works for Adelaide include a high-rise school designed by Cox Architecture, a “radically mixed-use” tower designed by Woods Bagot, and a two-towered project by Hassell and Fitzpatrick & Partners for the historic Adelaide GPO site.

Construction of Realm Adelaide will commence in mid-2017 and completion is anticipated by 2020.
