The new Chief Executive of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS), Grant Warner has outlined a strategy to strengthen member engagement, and increase the Institute’s profile across the world.

Discussing his Roadmap for Change, Warner said that he was impressed by the level of professionalism and excellence within the industry. Commenting that members, member clients and stakeholders at all levels of government and the private sector can expect to see far greater engagement and interactivity from AIQS in the coming year, he sought suggestions from members about the services they most wanted from their professional organisation as well as how the Institute could better engage with member clients.

He reiterated the organisation’s commitment to lifting the profile of the quantity surveying profession and promoting the AIQS brand nationally and internationally. Warner has a wealth of experience promoting and enhancing professional associations, and brings to his new role considerable expertise in governance structures, stakeholder engagement and strategies for membership growth.

According to Warner, the Institute’s education offering will be a major focus area in 2016 and will see the rollout of over 100 online topics available to members and non-members through the AIQS Academy. Coupled with the Certified Quantity Surveyor brand, these initiatives are expected to underpin increasing professional standards delivered by the quantity surveying profession as employers and business come to recognise the importance of AIQS training and post-nominals.

He added that the Academy will go a long way towards meeting industry demand for professional development and specialised training, while giving members an important advantage when it comes to ongoing education and training.

Going forward, Warner aims to build AIQS into a global leader for the quantity surveying profession. Increasing membership from among large construction and building companies will be another priority for the organisation.
