The NSW Chapter of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) have revealed the winners of the 2015 Awards for Excellence program.

A total of 16 awards were handed out by the UDIA to a variety of built environment projects ranging from large-scale retail and commercial buildings to high-density residential developments.

Some familiar projects were revealed among the field of winners including Park Lane and The Mark residences by Johnson Pilton Walker, Dominion Residences by GroupGSA, Wollongong Central Shopping Centre Expansion by HDR| Rice Daubney, Casba by Billard Leece Partnership, SJB Architects and BKH Interiors, and Eliza apartments by Tony Owen Partners.

Chief Judge of the program, Julie Bindon says this year’s winning projects took sustainability and innovation to levels never before seen and that her fellow judges were pleased to see industry pushing the boundaries in design and technology to make developments greener and more cost effective for the end buyer.

“We were delighted to see that innovative and sustainable work is not just confined to the Design and Innovation or Sustainable Development categories,” she explains.

“From master-planned estates to commercial buildings, and everything in between, environmental sustainability is embraced as the new norm.”

The winners will progress to the UDIA National Awards for Excellence, determined at the Institute’s National Congress in Adelaide early 2016.
