Nestled in the beachside suburb of Cronulla, The Maybe Forever home is the creative vision of Simone Mathews, Founder and Interior Designer of SOUL Home.

Designed as a sanctuary for her family, this home blends classic elegance, natural warmth, and resort-style relaxation, creating a peaceful escape from busy daily life.

Mathews’ design follows SOUL Home’s 70/20/10 rule, incorporating 70% classic elements, 20% organic influences, and 10% resort vibes. Inspired by Bahamian and European architecture, the home combines timeless charm with modern comfort. Natural timber, soft organic shapes, and large windows create an inviting, light-filled atmosphere that feels both luxurious and welcoming.

Sustainability was a key priority, with Mathews and her husband, Ben—owner of BAM Construction Group—choosing materials that are both energy-efficient and stylish. The home was designed with high-performance insulation, acoustic treatments, and energy-efficient windows and doors to create a comfortable indoor environment while reducing energy consumption. Careful selection of building materials helped improve temperature regulation, soundproofing, and durability, ensuring the home remains functional and cost-effective in the long run.

Every element of The Maybe Forever home was carefully chosen for both aesthetics and longevity. The kitchen features warm, natural timber cabinetry that enhances the space’s inviting feel. Wide-plank timber flooring extends throughout the home, providing a durable surface that withstands the demands of a busy family. High-quality plasterboard was used to improve acoustic performance and strengthen the walls, creating a more peaceful atmosphere in a household with children. For the laundry and storage areas, durable, moisture-resistant finishes were selected to ensure long-lasting performance.

Windows and doors play a major role in the home’s overall aesthetic and energy efficiency. The Bahamian-inspired design prioritises natural light and ventilation, with strategically placed windows helping to maintain a stable indoor temperature. Large timber sliding doors contribute to the plantation-style aesthetic, while custom glazing enhances the seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

From elegant arched doorways that soften the interior flow to carefully selected window coverings that balance style and function, every detail has been meticulously considered. Sheer curtains add warmth and texture, helping to create a grounded, inviting atmosphere. In the outdoor living space, automated shading solutions provide relief from the sun, regulate temperature, and extend the usability of the space throughout the year.

A standout feature of the home is its outdoor room, designed for year-round enjoyment. While the front façade offers privacy and a homely feel, the rear has a resort-like atmosphere, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces.

Adjustable shutters contribute to the plantation-style aesthetic, while modern awnings help control heat from the western sun, reducing reliance on air conditioning and making the space comfortable in all seasons.
