The 2014 Frame Australia Conference and Exhibition in Melbourne on May 19 will be all about ‘prefab timber and engineered wood in building construction’.

As Architecture and Design recently reported, Frame admits that a timber construction revolution is currently underway across Australia, one that is seeing builders change from traditional steel and concrete construction materials to timber panel systems for medium and high density residential buildings.

“These advances are influencing future construction by saving weeks in building time, and reducing both on-site and development costs,” said the organisation.

This shifting trend will be the major topic of the 2014 Frame Conference, which will be fittingly held at the Park Hyatt Melbourne, just kilometres from Forte, the world’s tallest residential timber building.

International and local guests will host seminars about new technologies and construction trends for pre-fabricated timber and wood panel systems. Displays by building products exhibitors from Europe, North America and Australia will also continue the prefab and engineered wood theme in a global context.

The Frame Australia event will host a national gathering of delegates from both the timber and engineered wood, and building design and construction sectors.
