Case study: Kingswood Institute of Applied Technology
Network Architectural were delighted to work with Kingswood Institute of Applied Technology and Dunrite Linings earlier this year to create and install a bespoke metal mesh ceiling system to enhance their new construction training building’s functionality and aesthetic performance. The result was optimised with industry-leading products from durlum. The Kingswood Institute of Applied Technology Construction (IATC) in Sydney developed a modern facility to train the next generation of construction professionals. To complement the building’s industrial aesthetic and functional needs, Network Architectural collaborated with the institute and Dunrite Linings to create a custom ceiling system using durlum products.
Expanded metal mesh panels in Black, Blue, and Grey were used in classrooms and meeting rooms to create intimate spaces, while lighter grey tones were chosen for public areas to enhance openness. In training rooms, vibrant yellow powder-coated panels added energy to the environment. Durlum S1 Clip-In tiles were installed in corridors for precise linear ceilings, and opaque acrylic backing panels ensured durability while allowing natural light through. Externally, durlum S7 service panels were installed around the building soffit for a seamless industrial look.
The result is a visually striking and highly functional space that meets the needs of students and staff at the Kingswood Institute.
